Well's criteria

The Well's criteria is the most commonly used method to predict clinical probability of Pulmonary Embolism.

Well's criteria for Pulmonary Embolism (PE)

Clinically suspected deep vein thrombosis (DVT)

Alternative diagnosis is less likely than PE

Tachycardia (heart rate over 100 bpm)

Immobilization at least 3 days or surgery in previous four weeks

History of DVT or PE


Malignancy with treatment in previous six months or palliative
